THEY'RE OURS!!!!!!!!

Those words we have been waiting to hear for over a year and half were finally spoken in a small Ethiopian court room this morning, “They’re YOURS”. We passed court this morning! Not much more to say other than thank you SO much for all the prayers. We are having a great trip and cannot wait to bring these little ones home. Our hearts are so overwhelmed with gratitude right now. It’s hard to even type this without tears. A month ago we never dreamed we’d be passing court on the first try. Now we wait 6-10 weeks for paperwork to be finalized so we can bring them home! :)

Hey everyone! This is Joanna, Rebecca's sister; I'll be updating Nate and Rebecca's blog for the next couple weeks while they're in ETHIOPIA!

So . . . they left the states Sunday at noon. After a (long!) flight to Ethiopia, they landed around 3:00 a.m. (our time). Initially, they were anticipating meeting Little Boy M and Baby Girl H a full day after arriving. BUT as soon as they met their contact person off the plane, he asked them if they wanted to go and MEET THE KIDS RIGHT AWAY! They were shocked and so blessed by this opportunity!! They spent over 2 hours with the children, experiencing an instant bond that truly reflects how God has been preparing all of their hearts in this. Understandably so, they were unable to put into words how meaningful of an experience this was for them. We are all rejoicing that these little ones were finally wrapped up in the big loving arms of Nate and Rebecca!!!

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR PRAYERS! They are meeting with some dear friends today and have many activities and opportunities coming up during their time over there. Ultimately, they are just so grateful to finally have held their little ones tightly in their arms. Truly amazing!

We Can't Believe It!

After a long night of prayer, we were absolutely astonished when we received a call this morning letting us know that not only did everyone show up for court today who needed to be there, but our MOWA approval letter was there!!!!! This is huge! I don't know if you've been following the "5 letter" drama or not, but pretty much there's big changes going on right now in Ethiopian adoptions that have the potential to significantly delay getting a MOWA approval letter. I must have asked Nate 50 times today, "are you sure they said our letter was there?" Yep, they said it and now we know it's in our file for April 21st! Wow.

It's been a sobering and grievous few days leading up to this date. We've been wrestling with how broken this world is and the devastating losses and circumstances that have now officially deemed Little Boy M and Baby Girl H as orphans. And yet amidst it all...there is such great hope. THIS is why the church is called to be a light in this dark world. THIS is why we stepped out and decided to adopt. THIS is what the heart of the kingdom's about...restoration. The only prayer I could whisper in the dark of the night was that God would bring restoration and justice into these precious children's lives.

We are so incredibly honored to be a part of this restoration God's orchestrating...we just can't wait to be their mom and dad and finally get them in our arms! Thank you all so much for continuing to pray alongside us each step of the journey. We've seen prayer unleash God's justice time and time again during this adoption. Glory be to our God!

Court Date...#1 of 2

While we're all sleeping tonight, several people will gather in a room somewhere in Ethiopia to discuss the future of Little Boy M and Baby Girl H. This is our first court date, the relinquishment hearing, which is officially Wednesday, April 6. But, with the time difference it will happen during the night for us. So, those involved in the relinquishment of the children will appear for this court hearing to finalize some important aspects of the adoption before we can travel. There's an outside chance that our MOWA approval letter could possibly be there for this hearing (we have heard of several families whose letters have been there for the first hearing). If it's not there tomorrow, we are hoping and praying it's there for our hearing, April 21st. Please join us in prayer for this first court date. We should hopefully hear how everything went sometime Wednesday. If you wake up in the middle of the night tonight, pray for Little Boy M, Baby Girl H, and everyone God's placed in their lives for such a time as this....
